'Fair Way' explores how metropolitan Perth’s golf courses could serve a broader civic purpose. Collectively occupying approximately 1,153 hectares, or around two per cent of Perth’s suburban core, these expansive landscapes are often water-intensive, lightly used, and accessible to a relatively narrow group.

The project reimagines golf courses as multifunctional community assets while retaining golf. Fairways are combined with native parkland, medium-density housing, habitat restoration, urban farming, foraging, cultural education, and hospitality that connects food production directly with dining. 

The concept draws on Caring for Country and the Noongar six-season cycle to reconnect urban communities with local ecologies and food production systems while responding to water scarcity, biodiversity loss and food security.

A flexible kit of parts includes orchards, kitchen gardens, greenhouses, pathways, rainwater harvesting, native ecology preservation and revegetation, and systems that convert organic waste into energy. This creates a model that can be adapted across metropolitan sites. 'Fair Way' reframes golf courses as shared civic infrastructure that is productive, accessible and resilient.
